Mike Maile: completed his Matric in 1990, and then proceeded to do an executive certificate in Education Management at Bristol University in England. He then enrolled at Wits University where he completed a certificate in Community Development as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Public and Development Administration on a part time basis. He subsequently completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Management: Business Administration with the Wits Business School after studying full time in 2000.

Work Experience: His first job was with the national Education Co-ordinating Committee where he worked as the National Organizer. He then proceeded to the ORT-STEP Institute where he was a Manager for Community Based Projects. Mike had the privilege of being elected to the first post apartheid local government structures.

He served on the Executive Committee of the Eastern Metropolitan Local Council and was also appointed as the ANC Chief Whip. He proceeded to join Ernst & Young as the Manager for Social Corporate Responsibility. Thereafter, he joined the Gauteng Department of Housing, growing through the ranks from being a Deputy Director to being a Chief Director.

He initially joined the GSSC as Chief Operations Officer and at one time during a period of 12 months was both COO and Acting Chief Executive Officer. Again, as COO, his achievement in steering the GSSC through a period of accelerated change and transformation led to the unprecedented achievement of rising to CEO for the GSSC in a space of 15 months.

He left the Public Service to establish a consultancy. He is a keen community worker who has chaired more than ten different community organizations.
